April 08, 2020

We have heard many times over the last few weeks “These are unprecedented times”. We have seen our lives change on a day by day basis. We are all waiting to see what “return to normal” really looks like when we get through this pandemic. COVID-19 has changed things.

We have seen our community work together to make sure everyone is equipped with the necessities.  We have seen our LGBTIQ Community, staff emergency rooms, hospitals, grocery stores and other essential business.  We have seen so many start their sewing machines and start making face covers by the hundreds. These acts all help to maintain confidence that we will make it through this, together.

For the safety and health of our community the Albuquerque Pride Board has made the decision to cancel all plans for PrideWeek in June of 2020. All events have been moved to 2021 including: Pride Candlelight Vigil, Friday Free PrideFest, Pride Parade and the Main Event PrideFest.

The Albuquerque Pride Board volunteers countless hours, year round, to produce our annual PrideFest. This decision was not made lightly. We understand how important PrideFest is to our community. We look forward to celebrating together as ONE Community when we have this pandemic behind us.

We will be in contact with our vendors, partners, sponsors and ticket holders to discuss options moving forward. I cannot thank our supporters enough for always believing in our cause.

The love, support and compassion I have seen from our LGBTIQ Community gives me hope for the future. Whenever this COVID-19 pandemic comes to an end… We will celebrate as ONE PRIDE FAMILY.

Stay safe and healthy,

Craig LaBerge-Esparza

President of the Board
